By the look of it the Precision M3800 is a 15-inch portable workstation is able to run ISV-certified apps from a variety of developers.

The Precision M3800 is designed to address to the same sort of power user who is in the market for a high-end laptop or content creation machine like the Apple MacBook Pro with Retina display. Users have the option to configure the Precision M3800 with an 15.6-inch QHD+ IPS display, which has a 3,200-by-1,800 resolution, higher than the 1080p Full HD on the base Precision M3800 models.

Last year's Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Retina display) has a 2,880-by-1,800-resolution display.
The rest of the Precision M3800's specs are also impressive. It's powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i7-4702HQ processor, 2GB Nvidia Quadro K1100M workstation-level graphics, up to 16GB of DDR3L memory, and can be equipped with two storage devices (a 2.5-inch drive and a mSATA Mini-Card) for a maximum capacity of 1TB SSD or 2TB spinning hard drives.

The Precision M3800 is manufactured with carbon fiber in the base, aluminum in the lid, and Corning Gorilla Glass covering the screen. So you can utilize touch-optimized apps and the optional Windows 8.1 OS, the Gorilla Glass covers a 5-point touch screen. For businesses that have standardized on that stable operating system, Windows 7 Professional is another operating system you can opt for.

The Precision M3800 is designed to be livable, with all four USB ports capable of charging devices like smartphones and tablets, even when the system is turned off.
In addition to the Apple MacBook Pro, the Precision M3800 is aimed at competing with HP's new line of Z-series mobile workstations.
